September 20, 2011 8:00pm This web conference was very beneficial in tying up all the loose ends to this course. Ms. Borel had some great examples for activities we could include in our internship plan. She also provided the academic calendar I have been searching for since the beginning of this class! YAY!! Now I can finally see when all the start and end dates are for our courses. I feel the web conferences are such a great tool! While I may not be the one asking the questions, I still love to hear the answers of other students’ questions to reassure myself that I am on the right path. I can truly say the past 5 weeks have been a roller coaster, and I could not have done it without the help of Sarah, Ms.Borel, Cortney, and all my other classmates. Congrats to us all for surviving and being successful throughout this course. September 7, 2011 8:00pm Tonight’s web conference went a lot more smoothly! We are all getting the hang of it..YAY! Ms. Borel gave us a lot of great information pertaining to our internship plan and handbook. A hundred and fifty hours seems like a lot right now, but I know we will all get it accomplished. I also learned more about the internship and what role my mentor plays throughout this program. Things are starting to come together. It was wonderful to see fellow classmates helping Mike understand how to view his assignment comments under grades. Mary was especially helpful in this process, and I was very impressed. Epic can be very confusing and takes some time to navigate it properly. I myself have spent many hours being hands on in epic trying to learn all the ins and outs. It is really nice to get to know my fellow classmates more and more each week! This is a long and stressful journey, at times, but we are in it together!! |
Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 8:00pm | During this web conference, the one piece of information I found most helpful was that if we had a GPA of 3.0 or higher we would not have to take the GRE! YAY! It also worked great when Professor Borel muted everyone's microphones! This helped tremendously with the feedback noises. I did notice that the answers to questions people were asking over and over could easily be found in our syllabus or to do lists that professor Borel puts on the virtual office hours discussion board. I do understand that this course is a little overwhelming at times but I love how well organized it is. I think fellow students would feel more comfortable with this course and what is expected from us if they read the weekly to do list thoroughly. I also enjoyed that even though my baby woke up during the conference, I just grabbed her and she got to be a part of our cohort for a few minutes. = ) I look forward to getting to know all my fellow classmates better through our web conferences! I think it is great that we have such a diverse cohort. |
Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 8:00pm | I thought this web conference, while a little hectic, was a learning experience for us all. I for one, have never been a part of a huge group conference. At times there was a lot of noise and echoes, but we were all learning and I know it will get better throughout the course. I look forward to getting to know my fellow colleagues and professors better through these conferences, as it is nice to put a face to a name. |
