EDLD 5326 Web Conference Script

Web Conference Time: September 8th While I was not able to attend any of the web conference directly, I was able to read the scripts. I love being able to have the scripts there for me to reference when I have a question because 9 out of 10 times someone has already answered that question. I can then easily read the answers either from our professors or other students. I think web conferences are a great way for us to communicate with each other as we are all lifelong learners.

EDLD 5326- Action Research Project Update

Action Research Project Title: Integrating iTouches into the 21st Century Classroom Blog URL: http://angela-mahl.blogspot.com/ Number of AR Project Documented Hours: Approximately 125 hours AR Project Summary (at least 250 words): Since starting my action research project a year ago, I have put in around 125 hours in and outside the classroom to make sure my project is successful. I have found so many Apple applications for the iTouch that have fit right into our 1st grade curriculum that help the students to be engaged while learning on this digital tool. The students love when they are able to use the iTouches because they see it as a fun way to learn. I have also been able to give a few workshops to other grades and teachers showing them how to work the iTouche while also giving them great applications that they could use on them for their students. During the last school year, grades did improve when we used the iTouches to reinforce skills that we taught in the classroom. It was a great way for students to practice what they have been taught in a fun and engaging way. While I am still continuing my action research project during this school year, I am still finding that the new students are getting really good at using them. Since it is the beginning of the school year, we have been practicing safety rules and how to use the iTouches responsibly. I will continue my research by adding new applications to the iTouches that match with the new curriculum being taught this year. I am also continually updating my iTouch wiki with helpful tutorials, great applications, and other up to date research so other teachers can easily access it to help them integrate iTouches into their 21st century classrooms. I am really pleased with my progress, and feel that iTouches really do benefit our students and help them to be more successful in and outside the classroom.
